General   In the past few months, I have enjoyed many walks along the shores of Maine.  I have become taken by the views from behind the rocks, looking out over the ocean to the horizon. I've interpreted this in the painting Island Waters, shown below. The rocks are a bold comparison to the ocean.  They are heavy and multi-colored.  They're strong.  Their strength is revealed in the deep greens and rusts and blacks.  And the fact that these colors are wet, so they're even bolder colors.
